  • open space art app is coming

Art App marginalia #1

the discussion refers to
mediated experiences
i look through a lens
i talk through a phone
i email
i watch
i read
i talk walks in the park
i teach art history

everything in this equation begets something
art suffers from this mediation
perhaps that is the gooder question
i go to the art gallery
i read the wall of the art gallery
i look at the art
the artist is telling me something
i know what it is
i don't know what it is

the art app is a direct reflection of this mediation
imagine a art app which reads the artwork for you
or imagine an art app which creates the artwork for you
i walk into the gallery to see the exhibition
i walk into the gallery
and i look through the art app
the art work then exists in two locations
or the artwork only exists in the phone
or the artwork exists only in the hands of you
or the artwork is made again
or the artist is made again
or you are the artist

we live in a world
where inter-face is paramount
we are all blade runner

Messenger
By Mary Oliver
My work is loving the world.
Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird—
equal seekers of sweetness.
Here the quickening yeast; there the blue plums.
Here the clam deep in the speckled sand.
Are my boots old? Is my coat torn?
Am I no longer young, and still half-perfect? Let me
keep my mind on what matters,
which is my work,
which is mostly standing still and learning to be
astonished.
The phoebe, the delphinium.
The sheep in the pasture, and the pasture.
Which is mostly rejoicing, since all the ingredients are here,
which is gratitude, to be given a mind and a heart
and these body-clothes,
a mouth with which to give shouts of joy
to the moth and the wren, to the sleepy dug-up clam,
telling them all, over and over, how it is
that we live forever.

but what if i don't own an Iphone?

the idea is that the app
helps you (the viewer) to see the art exhibition

the art exhibition is a mix-ture of
graphic poetry and concrete scores

the app helps you
to mediate the mediation
